Well
despite their seemingly never-ending touring schedule, Cheltenham’s 4ft
Fingers have managed to release a follow up to 2001’s full debut ‘At Your
Convenience’. And what a follow up! The band have taken the promise shown on
their previous releases, shone it up a little, taken in some more influences
from the likes of Rancid et al and added some trademark Beer Skate Punk madness
to produce a wicked brew guaranteed to whip any UK punx into a frenzy. Although
they do seem to have lost the ska-punk elements of previous efforts such as
‘Hopeless Romantic’ and ‘Killing Time’, this has allowed the quartet to
concentrate on some more straight up punk rock incorporating elements of
hardcore, Oi! and even a little so-cal punk. It is immediately obvious that the
band have moved onto a larger label, as the album just gives a generally more
polished feel than previous efforts, and this does mean that the album doesn’t
quite capture the raw energy given by the band in live performances. Regardless,
this album reeks of quality and it seems they will just get better. (9)
