This is the interview with Not Katies that is in the upcoming issue 6.  If you want the full interview, either buy the new zine or wait about a year for us to update again.  Ho-hum...

Can you please introduce yourselves and your roles in the band

R: I’m Dave, I play guitar and do a little bit of singing in Not Katies.

D: I’m Rich. (laughter) No, it’s the other way around, I’m Dave, he’s Rich. We also got Ewan, Luke and Neil.

How’s touring going?

D: We’ve had a month off.

R: Yeah a month off tour.

What’ve you been up to in that time?

R: We’ve been working.

D: Yeah we’ve been working, and you get all itchy. You get back off tour, and you’re really tired, and you’ve got 2 days and then you wanna go do it again.

R: It was really annoying as well with Download being cancelled for us. You know the festival?

Yeah, the one Limp Bizkit pulled out of.

R: Yeah yeah, we were meant to be on the Deconstruction stage for that.

Why did they take you off it?

R: Uh, because Metallica decided they’d play for an hour and a half. But its cool, we get to play the Deconstruction thing for Mean Fiddler in London on Monday, with Bouncing Souls and Thrice, so we played that and that was cool. That was like our last gig.

Influences on the band?

R: Fucking hell we could go forever! We’ve all got our different influences, like we all love different stuff, like…Neil likes a lot of early ‘90’s hardcore bands like Quicksand and Fugazi, I’m a big fan of the Cure, bands like that.

D: Ewan loves Paul Simon’s band and stuff like that.

R: And we mix all that up with modern bands like Saves The Day and The Movielife and stuff like that.

D: Bands we all listen to as well, like Thrice, and Taking Back Sunday. But we all have other bands that we listen to. They all come together, and create Not Katies!
